I know that I promised a blog on Bigfoot, but this alien film has to be spoken about. If you haven’t heard, a man named Stan Romaneck has claimed to have true footage of an alien creature. Romaneck claims that he thought that he had a peeping tom and set up a video camera to catch the lowlife who was looking in on his two teenage stepdaughters. What he found was that he was being visited, yet again, by aliens and had captured one on film. The official photo of the alien is above. The window is eight feet high which explains why all we see is the top of the head. The aliens can only stretch their necks out so far (for proof, just go rent ET again).
After seeing the image I have only three questions:
1. Who would have thought that the aliens would look so much like Miss Piggy?
2. Why would an advanced race or civilization need to look through the window? You would think that if they could make it all the way here from a planet light years away that they would have binoculars or a telescope.
3. Why is it that these things never happen in a place where a good picture can be taken? Every time the aliens appear, it is to Uncle Pokey and his best friend Wienie, when they are out on a fishing trip drinking moonshine, rather than to the president. It’s just a thought, but the aliens could make it a little easier on themselves.
All of this to say that while I don’t believe that this film is anything but either a mistake or a hoax. While I do have a pretty carefully thought through theory about what constitutes the “Abduction Phenomenon,” I don’t think that what you see has anything to do with it. What then are we to make of those who claim to have been abducted? Some are experiencing sleep paralysis (google “old hag syndrome"), others have some serious mental problems, others (and there are many in this category) just like to make up stories. Don’t believe those who say “they have no reason to make this up.” There are some who just like to be the center of attention and one way of getting this attention is claiming that some bizarre situation has happened to you. But then there are those others, who are clearly not lying, experiencing mental difficulties or suffering from sleep paralysis. What about those? There are such people and I believe that they have experienced something real. I’ll tell you what I think if you like, just let me know. For now, however, I wouldn’t bet the farm on this image being a real alien. Of course I could be wrong, in which case, can anyone lend me a Miss Piggy puppet?
Onward . . .

I spoke to Betty Gage last night and Dr. Gage is doing well, but in some pain as is common the second day after surgery. He will likely be dismissed today (Thursday) and will stay in Dallas for a follow up appointment on Monday. This would put his arrival back in Ft. Lauderdale sometime early next week.
Again, the family has asked me to thank you for all of your prayers and kind wishes and for respecting the “no phone calls” desire. They miss you all and look forward to seeing you soon. Your cards have been a great encouragement and they are praising the Lord for His goodness in this difficult time.
I will post more as I receive more information.

I have just heard from Mrs. Betty Gage and the news is very good. The surgery went very well last night and Warren is up and walking a little this morning. While he is still in some pain, the infection is mostly gone and the doctors are pleased with the result of the operation. It will likely be a week before he and Betty are able to travel home, but it appears as if the worst is over.
They would like to thank everyone for your prayers and support at this time. Needless to say this has been a difficult two weeks for the entire family and knowing that the CRPC family was praying for them has made a great difference during this time.
Please keep praying and I will update the site as soon as any other news becomes available.
Blessings,
DSL

I spoke to Mrs. Betty Gage a few moments ago (7:00 E.S.T. on Monday, June 18, 2007) about the status of Dr. Gage. His progress has been good and his surgery time has been moved up to one hour from now. After the surgery, if all goes well, he will be kept in the hospital for a few more days to both administer strong antibiotics as well as monitor his progress.
He has asked that no calls be made to his room but prayers and welcome and encouraged. Both Dr. and Mrs. Gage would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of those who have lifted them up before the throne of grace. They cannot thank you enough for your concern and kindness.
I will be speaking to Dr. or Mrs. Gage tomorrow afternoon or evening to get an update on the surgery. I will post the news as soon as I am able. Until then, keep praying, we have a wonderfully kind physician who knows our sicknesses and trials and leads us through them.
For the Lamb, the Shepard and the Lord, who is also the Lion of Judah,

Should we be worried about the spiritual life of the young people that we see all around us? You be the judge. One in five 18-25 year-olds say they have no religious affiliation, are atheist or agnostic, nearly double the percentage of the late ‘80s. Just 32% attend church at least once a week vs. 40% of those over age 25. Only 4% say people in their generation view becoming more spiritual as their most important goal in life. 63% of Nexters believe all life, including humans, evolved over time, while only 33% say all living creatures have existed in their present form since the beginning of time. 14% say they most admire an entertainer rather than a political leader; only 6% named spiritual leaders. Theirs is the most tolerant generation on social issues such as immigration, race and homosexuality.
Statistics come from Pew Forum Weekly Update 1/11/07
Compare this to University of Texas research reports 38% of young people say they are able to remain abstinent because of their religious or moral beliefs and we come to realize that these kinds of statistics are very difficult to interpret, particularly when we do not know the questions that were being asked.

Do you think that your church is the only one that is not engaged in evangelsim? Sadly this is not the case
A new Ellison Research study finds 39% of U.S. pastors aren’t highly interested in offering more community outreach programs. They prefer to focus on their own congregation and on spiritual needs rather than physical needs. Other problems common to at least half of all churches include lacking sufficient volunteers (58%), sufficient staff (56%), sufficient lay leaders (52%), and sufficient funds (50%). Despite the lack of interest for increased community outreach, 97% of churches report doing something specifically for the purpose of evangelism over the past year.
