Church Discipline

Posted on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007 at 2:29 pm

I last night’s New Testament Survey class we talked for a few minutes about church discipline.  As almost always happens when we begin this discussion (it comes up in the context of the Corinthian letters because of I Cor. chapter 5 and 2 Cor. chapter 2) there were many, many questions.  Some of those questions were answered in the lecture (see the 2 Corinthians lecture in the NT Survey section) but I have written a paper on the subject a few years ago that may do a little better job.

Please note a few things about the paper:

It is at least eight years old so the latest work will not be cited.
It may not be correctly formatted by the time it gets to your computer, it was when it was put up (really).
The Greek font is from BibleWorks so if you see some words that look like nothing you have ever seen before, it may simply be that you do not have the correct font.
Some of my views have been sharpened since I wrote this, so before you attack, ask some questions.

Other than that, I hope that this will be a helpful read.  ChurchDisipline.rtf

Have at it,
