As you might have read a couple of days ago, I preached on Christmas Eve morning and felt very badly about the way that the sermon went. I tried to put way too much information into the time that I had. Anyway as a method of contrast and comparison I thought that it might be instructive for you to hear the Sunday Morning sermon which I had spent many hours working on and the traditional evening service in which the people had come expecting to hear Dr. Kennedy and because of unexpected sickness of another minister at the last minute I had only about half an hour to prepare.
It is a good thing to know that God is very gracious to us when we are in situations where we could not have been better prepared. I would not expect the same grace if I had known about the assignment and had simply failed to prepare. At any rate here are the audios from both services and the powerpoint from the morning service. Needles to say there was no powerpoint (nor even any notes) for the evening service. The text for the evening service was Luke 2:8-21 which I inherited from the other speaker and which had been read earlier in the service.
Perhaps God will use this as a blessing for someone.

This is the audio from the sermon preached on 11/19/06 at Coral Ridge contemporary service. The sermon deals with many of the same themes that my paper for ETS dealt with, specifically Jesus’ use of humor in the New Testament. Some of the humor in the sermon is based on being able to see the slides, so make sure you get the slide show along with the audio. If you want to know more about Jesus’ use of humor, take a look at my paper delivered at the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society, in Washington D.C. on November 17, ‘06.

Pass it on. Your hoping someday to be a clear bright shining window, but for now a “brittle, crazy glass,” Pastor Sam.

While everything on this site is free and I am happy to hear stories about some of my work being used by others, I should mention that there are a few costs involved in running the site. Please feel free to use anything and everything that can be of help to you and do not feel any obligation to help out financially unless you have financial gifts from the Lord that are well beyond what you need, and you feel strongly that my work here is of value. If these two criteria apply to you and you would like to help out with my work, please feel free to donate to my account at paypal.
If you are unfamiliar with paypal, simply go to http://www.paypal.com and sign up for an account. Then you can transfer funds from one e-mail account into another. My e-mail account is . Of course you can always donate the old fashioned way, by mailing a check. The greatest of donations would be to pray for myself, my family, the seminary, and the ministry here at Coral Ridge.
Lest you get the wrong idea, please don’t think that you need to donate a penny to make use of anything on the site. I only hope to make the site bigger and better and will be doing that as time goes along and the funds come in. I pray that the Lord will bless you and bless whatever small part I have to play in your work. Pray for me. If you get a chance, have some extra funds, and really believe in the message, maybe you could drop a couple of bucks in the paypal account. You have my thanks whether you do or not.
